CORRECTION:
There are not more neural connections than there are subatomic particles in the universe, obviously. There are more *possible combinations* of connections in the brain. there's a lot of subatomic particles, but that number is dwarfed by this. Here's the math:
connection possibilities (unique pathways) = n! / m! * (n - m)!, where
n = number of neurons
m = average # of connections between neurons
= 1011! / 3000! * (1011 - 3000)!
